Avel eCare is Hiring a Remote Director - IT Infrastructure

General Hours of Work: Monday - Friday (Days) with some weekend, holiday, evening, night, and call time involvement

Exempt/Nonexempt: Exempt (salaried)

Department/Unit: Information Technology 

Reports To: Executive Director IT Operations

SUMMARY:

Directs the activities of Avel eCare IT Infrastructure, including ensuring that design, implementation, and operation of the Avel eCare network, server/storage, virtual environment, telephony, security systems, database, and video infrastructures at all Avel locations is performed in accordance with standing policy and good engineering practice. Responsible for determining, in concert with the Executive Director IT Operations and Chief Information Officer, the relative priority of network and network application implementation requests and scheduling activities in a manner to most effectively utilize the available resources of the department.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Directs operations of and leads the technology engineering and implementation of Avel eCare in a manner that results in satisfied partners in the operational areas of the organization and the achievement of the strategic goals of the organization.
  • Manages MSPs and leads a high-performance team, ensuring their accountability while also effectively mentoring the group and building a positive, collaborative, and service oriented team environment.
  • Provides strategic thought leadership and planning for the overall direction and roadmap of Avel’s infrastructure to ensure futureproofing and proactive readiness for tomorrows challenges.
  • Articulate, communicate and implement the corporate information systems strategy. Develop and initiate plans, projects, budgets, priorities, and/or operational standards and programs to meet the organization’s strategic goals.
  • Develop and implement effective written and oral mechanisms to document and report on information systems strategies, plans, priorities, budgets, schedules, and the current status of major projects and assignments.
  • Oversee, research, and provide advice for the planning, design, acquisition, installation, and management of Information Technology hardware, software, communications, and data networking.
  • Responsible for the implementation of network security measures for eCare that comply with the requirements of relevant certification authorities and regulatory agencies.
  • Directs the establishment and monitoring of eCare engineering quality objectives, milestones, and benchmarks. Directs the development and implementation of effective tools to measure performance against these standards, and to document and regularly report on all plans, priorities, schedules, budgets, staff assignments, programs, and the current status of projects.
  • Develops, submits, and implements workforce and organization plans for the eCare engineering area that will assure growth and development of the organization and its personnel in line with organization strategic initiatives and plans.
  • Develops, perfects, and implements current and proven video conference technology compatible with emergency room, Intensive care, Long-Term Care, Pharmacy, and 3 way consultative specialty provider teleconferencing.
  • Ability to travel as required to Avel office or various Avel data center locations.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Hours are variable and may involve working after 5pm and work occasionally may be performed under unusual pressure with deadlines or requests. REQUIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 8 years IT experience, preferably in managing and supporting network infrastructure and teams
  • 3 years of leadership experience.
  • Proven ability to manage an infrastructure stack and producing a roadmap while articulating the strategic value and prioritization and executing on the direction.
  • Experience working with a blended onshore, offshore, MSP staffing model preferred.
  • Experience operating and supporting Cisco Network, Palo Alto, VMware, Telephony networks
  • Expert ability to translate business needs and problems into system design and technical solutions
  • Previous budgeting experience.

REQUIRED Licenses/Certificates:

  • This position requires a valid driver’s license, and that the employee is insurable by the Avel automobile liability insurance carrier.
